I am an Occupational Therapist by background, with 10 years of experience as a Specialist in Hand Therapy. In addition to working in independent practice, I continue to work as part of the Hand Therapy team at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro. The experience of acute trauma and early post-operative care obtained in the NHS and close working relationships with the hand surgeons and fellow therapists have played a significant part of my development and I am proud to continue with this work. I am delighted to extend my role into work beyond the NHS, offering individualised care through local, timely and convenient treatment.
I am registered with the HCPC and am a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists. I am also a member of the British Association of Hand Therapists and the RCOT Specialist Section for Independent Practitioners. I am highly motivated, striving to provide the best possible care for my clients and value the opportunity to develop personally and professionally through conference and course attendance. This has recently included attending BAHT validated courses on the management of fractures, the wrist and surgical and therapeutic management of tendon injuries.
In addition to my NHS work and Independent Practice, I am pleased to offer a voluntary hand therapy service to the local homeless community through Cornwall Health for Homeless. This link was established in a bid to provide therapy support to a client group who frequently struggle to access medical and therapy care. I also sit on the Education Sub-Committee of the British Association of Hand Therapists, a group I feel privileged to be part of and I role I find enjoyable and rewarding.
